Couples Therapist
Judy Wiser enjoys working with couples as they explore where they are and where they want to be in their relationship. That exploration can be at the dating phase or after many years of sharing experiences. She uses a blend of evidence-based practices to include interpersonal psychotherapy, positive psychology, cognitive behavioral therapy, internal family systems and principles from John Gottman.
Gottman Method Couples Therapy
The goals of Gottman Method Couples Therapy are to disarm conflicting verbal communication. This includes increasing intimacy, respect, and affection. This couples therapy method also removes barriers that create a feeling of stagnancy in conflicting situations. It also produces a heightened sense of empathy and understanding within the context of the relationship.
Judy has been married 38 years and has four adult children. She served in the Air Force for 20 years, which included multiple deployments, where separation and reintegration brought challenges and insight. Judy believes relationship ruptures can be repaired. Consequently, she works with a couple to find their comfort level to heal and reestablish trust.
Judy is also a Star Behavioral Health Provider and has navigated family members with severe mental illness and addictions.
