Judy Wiser, LMHC

Ms. Wiser holds a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Texas, San Antonio, and two master’s degree from Indiana University. One is in counseling psychology and the other in European Studies.  Ms. Wiser also is retired after twenty years in the Air Force as an Intelligence Officer, which included three deployments. 

Specialties: In addition to her own service, Ms. Wiser is the daughter, mother, mother-in-law and spouse of veterans,  and is passionate about serving this population. She is a registered Star Behavioral Health Provider.

She entered counseling as a second career after experiencing extensive exposure to PTSD, anxiety, depression, addiction and bipolar disorder in her family and circle of friends.  She has been a member of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Health) for ten years, and has experience in teaching families how to adjust and support loved ones with severe mental illness.  She spent ten years living outside the United States and enjoys working with clients, navigating identity and cultural conflicts.

Ms. Wiser also has extensive experience in addiction treatment and takes a harm reduction approach to get to the root of the contributing factors.  She brings an eclectic approach to her therapy, weaving together components of evidence-based practices to include DBT, CBT, ACT, positive psychology, mindfulness and motivational interviewing (MI).  She is also a certified EMDR therapist.

When not working, Ms. Wiser enjoys yoga, gardening, sewing, reading, and traveling. She has four children and one grandson with whom she is fortunate to spend quality time.
