Claire Sunkel, LMHC

Claire Sunkel holds her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Colorado at Boulder and her master’s in clinical mental health counseling from the University of the Cumberlands. She has experience working in residential, in-patient, and outpatient settings.

Claire takes a person-centered and narrative approach in her practice as a counselor. She provides a warm, authentic environment for her clients to explore their obstacles, recognizes their resiliency, and creates lasting change. Claire recognizes the innate value of each person and that the stories we tell about ourselves shape our identity. She has experience working with a broad range of clients and presenting issues, but specializes in teens, college students and young adults.

Claire is trained in CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), DBT (dialectical behavior therapy), person-centered therapy, narrative therapy, and solution-focused therapeutic approaches. Areas of expertise include grief, trauma, anxiety, depression, and transitions in adolescence and early adulthood.

When she isn’t working, she enjoys being outdoors, crafting, and playing board games with friends and family.
